You may think that these photos are a throwback from this summer. They're not. They were taken this past weekend, just a few miles down the road. I say this because I am really, really struggling with the Christmas spirit this year. My neighbors have their lights up. I can see their lovely trees glowing inside their front doors when we drive by in the evenings (just so you know, I am not peering in their homes at night in a weird stalker way). I had to double check the calendar yesterday to reassure myself that it is in fact December. Problem is.... I haven't seen snow in a year. That's right. We moved down here this time last year, drove through a massive snowstorm, took 3 days to navigate Colorado alone. And, since then, nothing. Not a flake. I truly feel as though I am trapped in Groundhog's day. Each day looks the same. Other than an intense heat and severe humidity that rolled through a couple of months ago, it is the same all of the time. Last night we watched the Shrek Christmas special followed by Ron Howard's Grinch. It didn't help. I have been telling the boys we're going to make gingerbread houses using our leftover Halloween candy... Perhaps that will do the trick. Charlie Brown's Christmas is coming up. Maybe that along with the help of Bing Crosby and I'll be able to drag out the Christmas boxes. We'll have to buy our tree down at the flea market lot, no hope of hunting one this year. Bah Humbug, right? I know, sorry. This northern girl is in desperate need of some snow, this holiday depends on it!

Awww... :(
Not that it is the same, but it was 69 degrees here today. We've had 1 snow fall so far, and today's weather melted it.
It was really hard for me last year. I didn't decorate AT ALL (and I LOVE Christmas) because I was so homesick for Kansas City. When a place doesn't feel like home, snow or not, it is hard to get into the groove. I totally get that.
If you decorate GB Houses, please take lots of pics. I'd love to do that with Caeden, but know it would all end up in his tummy before it ever made it to the house. :)
Merry Christmas, Friend.
P.S. Your beach outfit is adorable! Love that green shirt.
Please allow me to snap you back into reality my friend...you're walking on a beach in your bare feet, surrounding by smiles!
Here's the reality of Old Man Winter...my kids were outside eating the snow a little too long today, building snow forts in the wind chill. They got so cold that my sons cheeks literally got a touch of frost bite and he swelled up like a chipmunk. :)
We've been nursing them back to little kid full-power with the last of our hot chocolate supply.
My kids were both sick with coughs, colds, runny noses and sore throats for 2 of the last 3 weeks. And of course, Daddy gets whatever they had after they are done with their bug and hack it up in my face, while taking up most of the bed in the middle of the night. :) (my wife has Mommy Immunities and is unaffected)
I was sad for you, deeply, but only for about 1 second. :)
Okay, okay... You win! I am thankful. I really am... My tree is even up. Merry Christmas, geeze.
Hey Paula,
I think I would be having a hard time, too. There's something about the cold and the snow. It's just not Christmas without the weather.
Can't say as I would mind a trip to the beach right now, though. Highs in the 20s and snow all weekend and all.
Whoever needs a break from the cold, come on down! We've already got visitors lined up for next week, February, and possibly March. The more the merrier and babies are an added bonus!
where is my post?
i just wrote and post and i don't see it.. where is it? it was so funny. about how everytime you get homesick for snow you should go buy a damn hydrangea.hahaha i know, seems like snow and Christmas goes hand in hand huh. well get ready because you'll be in cold country in less than 3 weeks. i miss you marli
