Henry's First Concert

Henry had his first performance this past weekend at the Concert of Peace and Freedom.   He is bottom row right hand side...  Such a sweet voice.

Another year, Another adventure

As many of you know we love to take the boys on birthday adventures.. Each year, with the exception of 1 or 2 less than mediocre years, we have taken them somewhere special to make some memories. It is my humble opinion that they will not remember the LEGO set or the Wii game they received for their birthday but they will likely remember their 5th birthday when they went to Sea World with their aunt and uncle. Or, perhaps their 7th birthday when they went horseback riding in Big Sky and toured Yellowstone National Park with their Montana/Wyoming family. Or their 3rd birthday when they got to hug Sir Topham Hat and meet Thomas the Train... And, just maybe their 6th birthday they spent at Hogwarts.

And my personal favorite, their first birthday in Maui...Okay maybe they wont remember that one.

This year, for their 8th birthday adventure, they spent the day at a giant traveling LEGO festival in Austin.  Here is a little recap of the day...

Their actual birthday is this Sunday.  And, on top of the annual adventure they have insisted on a birthday party.. While I am not much of a party planner, we will host about a dozen of their closest friends here at our house in a couple weeks for a backyard movie night.

Stay tuned for updates on that soiree!

Clear Creek Farm Gathering

This is a little montage from our picnic shared with family at the Sampson Farm. It was an absolute joy for Clark, the boys and I to finally be home to share in the festivities.

Of note, a huge apology to those that did not make the film or did not get equal representation.  One other major regret is the lack of footage of the food... All that amazing food went unrecorded.. Next time for sure.

Also, this was my first time using the video feature on the camera so you may want to pop a Dramamine prior to viewing. Just a warning...

Sunday in December

This latest capture was all Clark's idea. He and the boys received these toys for their birthdays back in September and this being his first skateboard EVER he is quite excited to show off his new hobby. He also chose the song.

The End

This is my attempt at creating a little movie.  I have a jillion little snippets of video taken over the past couple of years from the little flip and iPhone and after seeing a video created by my girl Jami (brilliant) I was inspired. And this is my attempt.

I must admit I have watched it countless times and still choke up a bit each time. Not because of the perfect filming or the flawless editing (obviously) but because of the unintended direction that the project took.  I wanted to use some of the fun clips I had of the boys outside playing and learning to ride their bikes.. Then I also had the graduation ceremony from preschool... And of course their first day of kindergarten and what they were most anxious about.

After I put it all together and the pieces fell into place I realized it was the story of an ending. The end of our 6 years together, home, playing, carefree, schedule-free, getting to know each other, growing, nurturing, and preparing them to venture out into the world without me... I think this video captures those final months beautifully.
