Birthday Trip... Next Stop.

After two days in my hometown, one of which was spent at Devils Tower, we made our way across the state to Yellowstone National Park.  There we met up with my sister and her family...

Once the boys figured out that binoculars, or "bin-o-clears", were really cool the battle was on for who got to use them.  And boy did they get used... To spy the bison up close and personal, to watch the wolf packs frolic on the river's edge, to see the coyote pounce on its prey, and to gaze the herd of elk way off in the distance.  Unfortunately (perhaps, perhaps not) our binocs did not spy any bears...

The last part of our trip was spent making our way to my sister's home in Montana. Along the way we visited the Wolf and Grizzly Discovery Center... Amazing.

We also did a little horseback riding jaunt under the Big Sky. I don't have any good shots of that excursion as I wasn't confident in my multitasking abilities. I will tell you that the boys loved it! They each had their own horse and for the first time on the whole trip they were quiet as mice the entire ride but managed to hold perm-grins on their faces.

Once back at my sister's abode we had a little birthday party get-together with old friends...

A perfect end to our first intersession of school...
