Delta Aversion

Or is it Northwest? I am still unsure...
"Northwest is Delta." they kept saying.
"Then why will you not accept a food vouture that says Delta?"
"Because Delta does not fly here, Northwest does."
Okay, that makes sense. "Then keep your damn pizza."

So, we got stuck in Detroit. Our plane lands from Cincinnati with a status of "canceled" for our next leg. We did not get much of an explanation nor did we get a "but, we have you booked on a later flight." All we got was a, "We don't know when we are going to be able to get you out of here."

We stayed the night in a crappy motel. Ate at the crappy bar/restaurant because we didn't have a car and didn't feel like hoofing it around Detroit. Ended up flying into Austin (thanks to our travel agent a.k.a. Aunt Meg), and rented a car (uncompensated) for an hour and a half drive back to San Antonio to pick up our car, and then drove another 2 hours home. Good lord! It was quite the 36-hour-ordeal. But, we're home...

Not sure why 50% of our travel experiences seem to have some kind of travel drama attached to them. You may remember our Christmas baggage ordeal. Or what about the time the airlines misplaced our bags for over a week. Do you know how hard it is to find a store open at 11:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve so you can buy diapers and clean underwear? Well, you can't. They don't exist.

I love traveling. More than anything. If I had the choice of having my carpets stretched or trees trimmed or garage door fixed (which all need done) or taking a trip, I'd hit the road, or sky, in a heartbeat. I just wish that flawless travel was a guarantee....
