Yesterday evening we decided to drive around and look at the local Christmas lights, this being our third trip out this season. We found a humble little neighborhood that has completely Griswold-out each and every house in a 2 block radius. It is a spectacular display of holiday cheer and Clark (my husband, no pun intended here) and I agree it is by far the most impressive display we have ever seen.
As we joined the line of cars slowly crawling down the street Henry shouts out, "Look! Baby Jesus is in a soccer goal!"
I began to explain to him that the lattice construction is not a soccer goal but actually represents the stable that Jesus was born in. This is when Clark pipes in that it is in fact the manger, "Hello? Away in a manger?" he states.
In which I reply, "Hello? No crib for a bed? The manger is His bed, not the stable."
The discussion continues in the front seat and we we do not realize Nelson has rolled down his window. Just as I am stating that Google can settle the matter when we get home, we hear him, with such sweet sincerity say, "Merry Christmas!" out the window.
Our little Tiny Tim in the back seat was sharing his Christmas joy with a man, standing in his yard in his bathrobe, trying to figure out why his inflatable snow globe was not blowing snow.
As we continued down Griswold Lane I could not help but smile to myself and give thanks for the joy that my family brings me.
So, to all our Henry and Nelson blog followers on this Christmas Eve Eve,
"God bless us, every one!"
Merry Christmas!!
