We made our annual trip down to the mall yesterday, letters in hand, ready for the delivery. Santa was on break when we arrived, of course he was, so we waited in the not-moving-an-inch line for about 20 minutes.
Santa finally arrived and we were relieved to be 3rd and 4th in line, behind 2 perfectly healthy looking babies, and I assume Santa washed his hands after his break. So technically speaking our risk of H1N1 contamination could only come from the 2 babies... Are you following my logic?? The odds are with us here, right?? Let's hope so..
Now it is our turn and the boys shuffle over to Santa as I step back and inform the camera lady we regretfully will not be purchasing her overpriced portrait with Santa, as we have last year's overpriced picture with the same Santa and the same backdrop (and likely the same sweatshirts), and that the boys just want to hand deliver their letters.
Santa was very jolly and began the usual Santa rhetoric...
Santa: "Have you boys been good this year and nice to your mom?"
Boys: "Yes Santa."
Santa: "Have you kept your room clean?"
Boys: "Yes Santa." I think they mean, "Yes Santa. Mom keeps our room clean." But whatever..
Then Santa goes in for "the" question, "What is the one thing that you want Santa to bring you this year?"
Nelson: "I want Gator Golf. It's a game."
Santa: "Okay. And how about you young man?"
Henry: "I want a double lightsaber from Clone Wars."
Whao!! Hold the show... I move into the conversation...
Me: "Wait Buddy. You were going to ask Santa for that Bumblebee... Right? The one Josh brought to show-n-tell and you talked about it for a month. The one that talks. Not the one that every store in town carries, but the one that will take Santa 3 days of internet research to find. The one that will come from the only store on-line that doesn't offer free shipping... Right? That's what you were going to ask Santa for... You forgot!"
Henry: "No. I changed my mind. I want the double lightsaber. The blue one that Anakin uses. It couples up."
Santa: "Okay. I'll see if I can work on that."
Me: "Yeah, could you do that Santa? Thanks."
Santa has already checked 2 stores... It seems to be sold-out. Nice.

Good of you to keep a jolly old fellow in a job. We had heard he was going into retirement but upon hearing the news of Elliott's arrival he assured us he will be on the job a few more years.
Don't you just love the holidays!! Chase's Santa list changes every stinkin' day. Luckily when we ask Dylan, the baby, what he wants from Santa - he just yells "TOYS!" So, we should have at least one happy customer come Christmas morning ;)
Good luck with the sword!!!!
What a great story. Any luck on the lightsaber? There is a great toy store in town that might carry it. I will check tomorrow for you.
Stupid lightsaber, anyway. Geez! ;)
