We are back from our week-plus getaway to Greater Cincinnati. What a time it was. We made it back at midnight after 2 flights and and a 2 hour drive then forced the boys up for school the next morning.
If not for the "Say No To Drugs" parade that the whole school participated in I don't know that any of us would have made it through Tuesday.
I parked down the street and staked my claim on the curb along side the other 10 parents that showed up to watch and cheer the kids on. It wasn't long before the sea of red, led by a local ambulance, made its way out of the parking lot and down the street.
The boys didn't know I was coming to watch and it wasn't difficult to find them...
As they walked by I decided to abandon my post and just join in the parade. We walked hand-in-hand chanting "Just Say No!"
After a few blocks Henry let go of my hand and disappeared into the crowd. I asked Nelson if he knew where he was.. He pointed him out and I saw him off with another boy holding hands, chanting and laughing hysterically. I love that at that age it is just fine if you want to hold hands with your friends. Moments later Nelson left me too and grabbed the friends other hand and off the three went together.
As we made our way back towards the school I gave the boys a hug and dipped out of the parade as we neared my car.
Such fun and much needed on a sleep deprived Tuesday morning.
