The boys and I watched a segment on CBS Sunday Morning about an 83-year-old artist from Japan, Yayoi Kusama. She is known as the Princess of Polka Dots and with her brightly colored canvases paused on the TV screen we set out to create something inspired by her beautiful work.
They boys were gifted a lovely paint set and canvases for their birthday form their grandparents. I told them that this is not the washable stuff but real paint that must be used consciously with precision and thought put into each stroke of the brush.
