Do not, I repeat, do not let one twin watch while the other gets 4 immunizations in the leg...
Holy crap. Our preschool check up was going great. Ears work wonderfully, I actually had doubts as the children don't seem to "hear" me most of the time, eyes are okay, blood pressure good... We're trucking along through each examination, the anticipation growing for the "little pokes" that I had been warning the boys about for the past few days. Then it happened. Nelson lost a game of Ro-Sham-Bo so he went first. Began screaming bloody murder and cried his eyes out. He even did the silent cry, where for about 15 seconds there is silence, tension building deep within before he belts out a gut wrenching wail. And, Henry is standing by, witness to the whole epidsode.
"Okay, you're next buddy."
"No, no, no...I don't want to do it!...I don't want to do it!...I don't want to do it!"
Clark is trying to stand him up, saying, "My back, my back... I can't!" So I am wrestling him. Furniture is flailing about, he has a death grip on the only chair remaining within his reach, legs extended vertically behind him as the nurse and I tug and tug. We wrestle him to the table, get the pants down, pin him down and he is screaming... and then...Done! And, NOT ONE TEAR! NOT ONE! He was so freaked out he didn't even know she shot him. FOUR TIMES!
Meanwhile, Nelson is in the corner whimpering softly... Only to finally be completely consoled by a Dum Dum and a sticker.
We got the hell out of there and headed straight to the aquarium.
And, we are ready for preschool.
This is Nelson loosing with a rock to Henry's paper.

Well, that experience sounds very traumatic for all involved. I can't blame Henry for not wanting to endure the shots in the leg. However, it looks like the day ended well. When will the boys begin Preschool?
