I have been down for 3 days.. Three days of pure misery, sniffling, stuffy nose, dry cough, migraines, severe fatigue.. All signs point to H1N1. It is not confirmed but it is either the worst and weirdest cold I have ever encountered or it is the flu.
I think I am finally coming around due to the efforts of my fantastic nurse. He has made me countless fresh fruit smoothies, homemade vegetable soup served in bed, trips to the pharmacy for different combinations of cold/flu concoctions and a bottomless cup of herbal tea, all to pull me from the depths of my despair. Last night I awoke in the middle of the night unable to breathe. I sat in a steamy hot shower for half an hour and emerged to the sounds of the juicer running in the kitchen. It was 1:00 am and my nurse was in the kitchen juicing up fresh ginger root that he stirred into a shot of honey. It certainly helped keep the coughing at bay until sunup this morning.
The worst of this illness is that I missed my first soccer game. Henry scored 4 goals and Nelson added one more to his belt. They were so excited and it pains me to have missed it... Not again.
