Took the boys to school this morning. We pull up, I get out, open the boys' door and Henry looks at me and says, "I don't have my shoes on."
Nelson chuckles and in a very cute but cheeky manner says, "Well, I guess I'll go on in." And with a smile he trots into the school, show-and-tell in hand, while Henry and I head back home.
I can't complain too much as we are only about a mile from school.
On the way home to retrieve the shoes we have a discussion about forgetting things. I tell him everyone forgets things at times. He says, "So you forget your shoes sometimes?"
Funny little boys.
Update on the shot: We did go for that Hep A booster and I did not tell them until we were almost to the clinic. Nelson, again so brave, could have cared less. Henry was a mess, defiant, said he wasn't going, blah, blah, blah.
When we went back for the shots we decided to let Henry go first and keep Nelson out. I walked down the hall with him while Clark went in for the assumed pandemonium. Not a peep came from the room and out pops Henry grinning ear-to-ear, "I didn't even cry."
Nelson was next he heads straight in, Henry and I wait in the hall, and pandemonium ensues. I hear the most godawful shrieks coming from that room. He appears a moment later with tear streaked cheeks. It was so sweet and so sad at the same time, but over for now.
Here's to a lovely weekend for you. We have the World Cup end of season tournament and of course the Buckeyes and Bengals... Cheers.

I remember that awful feeling deep in my stomach as we'd head to the Doctor's office for shots. Always so glad when THAT was over. Sweet boys - I am glad it is over for them (and you!).
Well, I haven't actually forgotten to wear my shoes, but I have shown up to work with two different shoes on. In my defense, I was trying to decide between the two and then kinda forgot to decide I guess ;)
Your Dr. visit sounds so similiar to our recent visit. Although mine are almost three years apart. Not a peep out of the baby - not even a wimper. Chase, the tough big brother had to be pinned down because he was in complete hysterics! Thankfully I got to take Dylan in one room and Dave took Chase in another. Hee hee hee! (I shouldn't be laughing about that - should I???)
My sister and her family live in rural Maine where they can be rather relaxed around the house. One day, she had to run to the grocery store and called out to her boys, about 8 and 10 to get in the minivan to go along. They complied obediently. When she arrived at the store parking lot and slid open the the side door to let them out she discovered the ten year old waiting to get out wearing just his underwear. The punchline is that at 9 years old he was already taking math classes at nearby Bates College.
I showed Ruth the new picture of Henry and Neslon and she exclaimed, "How handsome!"
