My Gift to You
Creamy Hot Cocoa Recipe
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup white sugar
1 pinch salt
1/3 cup boiling water
3 1/2 cup milk
3/4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 and 1/2
Combine cocoa, sugar, and salt in saucepan. Blend in boiling water. Bring mixture to an easy boil while stirring. Simmer and stir about 2 minutes. Do not let it scorch!
Stir in milk and heat until VERY hot but do NOT allow to boil. Stir, stir, stir!
When it gets really hot remove from heat and add vanilla.
Divide into 4 cups and pour in a little 1/2 and 1/2 to cool it down a bit.
That's it.
I only make it once a year as it is so rich. This weekend I made some fresh whipped cream and piled that on top... I'm not super crazy about marshmallow cream but of course you can do that too.
Enjoy!

Yum! Thanks for the recipe. I'll be trying it soon as my Swiss Miss isn't cutting it.
The pergola looks so festive!
Ding, ding, ding - he is off the "CUTE METER" chart!!!!
:) Soooooo.... hot chocolate that ISN'T from a box.... it sounds like a lot could go wrong with all those steps and ingredients and stuff! LOL :)
I might just have to give it a try soon though - snow storm is on the way... booo ;(
No worries Brooke. It is super easy and my best advice it to avoid multi-tasking (don't empty the dishwasher or attend to needy boy's demands) and it will turn out just fine.
Perfect for the snowstorm you're likely buried in right now.
