Blame it on the Rain

We had a rather tense Sunday morning.  Awoke to torrential downpour from the outer remnants of hurricane Karl that made landfall in Mexico.  The storm drains in the front of our house were unable to keep up and we watched as the water creeped up the drive and began spilling into the porch area.  By the grace of God the rain slowed enough just as the water was within, literally, an inch of spilling into the garage and the drains began to catch up.

As the water began filling the porch area Henry began to panic a bit.  As Clark and I watched, dumbfounded and unproductive, he yelled, "Don't just stand there.. Do something!"  Clark grabbed the broom, opened the back door and spent about an hour sweeping broomfuls of water out the door.  While the towels did nothing to help the situation, Henry's demand to take action actually cleared the porch and got the drying process underway.

Oh dear! That is scary. Glad to hear that you inched by with minimal damage - YIKES.

Thanks so much for your words of advice yesterday. I made him a Dr. appointment pronto this morning! This sounds like nothing to mess around with.

Wow. Looks like more rain in one downpour than we've had all year.
