Off My Chest

...pun intended.

Can I just rant for a moment... Of course I can, it's my blog.

This is me defeating the Tea Baggers or the Dark Side as I like to call them. And, yes, I am wearing black and holding the red light saber but that's only because that is the only one the boys will share with me during battle. And, again, my blog, my interpretation.

Many of my blog lurkers may or may not know that my family survives off the salary of a federal worker. That's right. My husband works for the United States Department of Agriculture. As of midnight he is likely not returning to work for awhile (it was 27 days the last time this happened in the Clinton administration). We will quite possibly not be receiving our next paycheck, possibly two.  Just in time to make our first new-to-us car payment. Brilliant!

And, from what I understand, this is all because of a hangup on women's health care access. 

Is this for real?

For those that are facebook friends you all know that I am a staunch and outspoken supporter of Planned Parenthood. When I was in college and between colleges (for 2 years) this is where my uninsured-self received annual exams and checkups.  I did not even know that they provided abortions until this whole debate began stirring in the media.  The fact is, this was the only place I could get my annual exams and birth control at a rate I could afford.  This was where I went to avoid such a scenario as an abortion. 

So, now to hold my families paycheck in limbo until all parties agree to defund an organization that provides health care, education,  STD and abortion prevention to uninsured and under-privileged women... I am baffled.  I really don't understand it.

I think it crass and disgraceful.
