The Carnival

I really dislike carnivals.  They freak me out. The carnies scare me.  I don't go on the rides; they scare me more than the carnies.

We always make up excuses as to why we aren't going to stop at the carnival that popped up over night in the Wal-Mart parking lot.  The weird thing about Texas, or at least South Texas, you can find a carnival somewhere in the city on any given day. They just move around and around.  Weird, right?

The few times I have been to carnivals I walk through the game booths, head low, reminding myself over and over... Don't make eye contact... Don't make eye contact.  Damn!  Eye contact made... "No thank you.. No I don't want to throw the giant basketball into the tiny hoop for $5.00.  No my kid doesn't need a giant blow up hammer."

Well, this time we went, but only because there were pirates involved and we are kind of into pirates right now.  And, the pirates did not disappoint, nor did the carnies for that matter.

These particular pirates from Hollywood, upon asking if they had been in any pirate movies, informed me they just wrapped a movie staring Ron Jeremy and Screech from Saved by the Bell... Classy Pirates!

Pirates of the Caribbean pirates...

This one did an excellent job portraying Captain Jack Sparrow, don't ya think?

Dinner!!  Weird-giant-turkey legs and giant corn dogs...

And, rides.  Yes, we let them go on sketchy carnival rides... This was a once in a lifetime for them we had to make the most of it.

Awesome :)
Good job mom. To this day I've wanted a giant turkey leg. I'm 36 and still haven't 'ad one-a-me own.' :)

Thanks for the major laugh tonight...love the carnies post. The carnie smell gets me...and the stickiness of them.

Savannah says "Weren't they scared of those pirates? I am but I would like to ride on those motorcycles with them!" The pirates did a fantastic job!!!
